Our History

Entrepreneurs at heart

Our origins date back to a 19th-century textile business in Piedmont, Italy. Six generations later, the entrepreneurial Trabaldo Togna family is still leading the way.

1840

The Trabaldo Togna textile factory is founded in Piedmont, Italy.

1950s

Under the leadership of Serafino Trabaldo Togna, the family diversifies into up-and-coming sectors, including banking, insurance and real estate.

1958

PKB Privatbank is founded in Zurich, Switzerland under the company name PRIVAT KREDIT BANK.

1961

PKB is acquired by the Trabaldo Togna family.

1969 – 1984

PKB opens branches in Lugano (1969) and in Geneva (1984), Switzerland.

1980s

The Trabaldo Togna family acquires Cassa Lombarda, a private banking boutique in Italy.

1990

PKB completes one of its first acquisitions, taking control of Banque Worms & Cie (Suisse) in Geneva.

1997

PKB establishes Planetarium, the Group’s SICAV structure in Luxembourg.

2004

PKB acquires Banca Monte Paschi (Suisse) in Lugano.

2010 – 2013

PKB acquires Banca Gesfid, CMB Banque Privée (Suisse) and the assets of LLB (Suisse) in Lugano.

2014

PKB establishes PKB Servizi Fiduciari, the Group’s offering for fiduciary services in Italy.
PKB Group buys Alasia Investments.

2020

Umberto Trabaldo Togna is named Chairman of the Board and Luca Venturini CEO of the group.

2021

PKB launches the first sustainable investment mandate for clients (“PKB Sustainable Future”).

2022

PKB establishes PKB Global Investments, the Group’s RAIF structure in Luxembourg.

2023

Launch of PKB AddVenture Academy initiative

2024

Launch of Digital Assets (Agreement with Sygnum Bank)
Acquisition of a majority stake in Belvoir Capital and its merger with Alasia

Today

The Trabaldo Togna family continues to invest and grow the core private banking activities.
